Executive Officer

Edgewater College is committed to being an excellent school.  We provide a caring and supportive environment where we emphasise individual responsibility, value academic excellence and encourage active involvement in arts, sports, culture and service to the community.

Our long-serving Executive Officer is retiring and we are looking to appoint a replacement starting in September 2017.

The successful applicant will lead the team that manages the school accounts, financial management and reporting, support staff and property contracts.

Key tasks require an Executive Officer who is confident and capable of:

  • The management of financial systems and operations
  • Producing the financial reports required by the Ministry of Education and Auditors
  • Producing financial reports that are helpful to Board of Trustees and other budget holders
  • Overseeing and using business software.  The College uses Xero accounting system and experience in that software, or proven ability to learn a business programme, is essential. 

Your responsibilities will also include:

  • Managing a small administrative team and being an active participant in larger in-school teams
  • Managing payroll (Novopay)
  • Managing the financial aspects of property and assest management including the oversight and maintenance of records of purchase of goods and services
  • Other duties as may be negotiated as part of the appointment process.

Property Officer – School Caretaker

We seek an enthusiastic and motivated Property Officer to work in the school property team that undertakes the management, security, and maintenance of all school buildings and property, monitors and addresses hazards, manages the cleaning contract and rubbish removal, and maintains all machinery and tools.

Edgewater College is a school of 650 students from Pakuranga and the wider community.  A high quality physical environment is a key objective for school management.

The successful applicant will:

  • Have initiative and good communication skills
  • Be able to work independently and within a team
  • Have the practical skills relevant to specific tasks in the role

This is a permanent position, worked 40-hours a week, 52 weeks of the year with annual leave taken during term holidays.  Please note that some weekends and evenings may be required according to the school events calendar.

Salary and annual leave provisions are set according to the School Caretakers and Cleaners Collective Agreement and the remuneration package includes a caretaker’s house on site.
