Isaac began his rowing career under coach Allan Vester (our school principal), and was selected for national development after his performances as a school rower. Isaac is part of the elite men’s eight team. The men’s eight is aiming for a top five placing at the world championships (in Augbuelette, France) to claim an Olympic berth for the Olympics at Rio de Janiero. It is more than 30 years since New Zealand last sent a men’s eight to the Olympic Games in 1984. The crew will also compete in the Windermere Cup in Seattle in May. Edgewater College Coaches Allan Vester and Trish Fenton were with the Edgewater College rowing team at the North Island Secondary School Rowing Championships in Karapiro when this exciting announcement was made.
